Mt Kilimanjaro Expedition

Mount Kilimanjaro a dormant volcano in Tanzania and the highest mountain in Africa, about 4,900 meters from its base, and 5,895 meters above sea level. Kilimanjaro has three volcanic cones, Mawenzi, Shira and Kibo. Mawenzi and Shira are extinct but Kibo, the highest peak is dormant.
We begin a gigantic ascend to Africa’s most respected mountain.
DAY 1: NAIROBI – MOSHI
Morning departure from Nairobi to Moshi. Get to Moshi by late Afternoon, check-in a Hotel in Moshi, freshen up and head out for late lunch/early dinner as well as a brief tour around Moshi town. Overnight in Moshi
DAY 2: MOSHI-MARANGU -MANDARA HUT
Departure from Moshi after Breakfast to Marangu gate for registration and the beginning of the Kilimanjaro climb. Ascent to Mandara Hut. The climb to Mandara hut trek lasts between (4-5 hours) through a very beautiful rainforest with waterfalls, streams, and other natural attractions. Picnic lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight at Mandara hut. (Mandara Hut – 2,743m)
DAY 3: – MANDARA HUT TO HOROMBO HUT
After Breakfast, we emerge from the Forest to open moorlands and the first views of Kibo taking about 5 to 7 hours depending on your pace to Horombo Hut(3,720m). Picnic lunch en-route. Dinner and overnight at Horombo hut (Horombo Hut -3700M)
DAY 4: – HOROMBO HUT – (acclimatization day)
Breakfast at Horombo, then you’ll spend the day trekking the nearby hills and circuits(eg Mawenzi circuit, Zebra etc) as your body slowly gets used to the altitude. This day will also give you ample time to rest as you wait to tackle the summit the following day! Dinner and Overnight at Horombo hut.
DAY 5: HOROMBO HUT – KIBO HUT
Breakfast at Horombo, then we move up past the “Last Water” to emerge on the saddle – a spectacular view of the high altitude desert, past Mawenzi peak(3rd highest peak in Africa, but unclimbable) to Kibo hut(4700m). Trekking time is (5-7 hours)depending on your pace. This day, we shall have dinner at about 5 pm and sleep by 6 pm because we need to wake up at 10.30 pm for our ascent to the summit. Wake up at 10.30 pm, have coffee & biscuits, then Leave Kibo at 11 pm for the summit. Pass by Gillman’s crater rim(5860m). Then head on to Uhuru Peak(5896m) probably by sunrise. The ascend from Kibo hut to Uhuru Peak takes about 8hrs.
DAY 6: UHURU PEAK- HOROMBO HUT
As the sun smiles on Africa for the first time this day, We shall be standing atop Africa’s highest point! Uhuru Peak(5,896m) which is also the World’s highest free-standing mountain!. Enjoy breathtaking views from atop Africa’s roof, brief photo session at the Uhuru summit, then we descend further down past Kibo hut to Horombo hut(We’ll stop at Kibo hut for a light lunch before proceeding to Horombo). Dinner and Overnight at (Horombo Hut -3720M).
DAY 7: HOROMBO HUT – MARANGU GATE – MOSHI
Breakfast at Horombo hut, then we trek further down to Mandara hut for lunch, before proceeding on to Marangu gate, Exit Kilimanjaro and proceed to Moshi. Overnight in Moshi town.
DAY 8: MOSHI- NAIROBI
Breakfast at the hotel& transfer back to Nairobi at 7.30 am after a lifetime achievement of scaling Africa’s highest mountain!. Expected to get back to Nairobi by early afternoon.
